FRICKE'S PERFECT MAX

MAX Fricke hailed the all-round performance of the Watling JCB Lions after his brilliant 15-point maximum in Thursday’s win over his former club Belle Vue

The Lions consolidated third place in the Sports Insure Premiership table with their 52-38 victory against the league leaders, and are now being talked of as serious play-off contenders in their first season back at the top level.

And coinciding with their strong run of results has been a series of displays from Fricke which mark him out as a top-class No.1 at this level.

Fricke broke the track record at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park in Heat 1 on Thursday as he won several races by a distance, before coming up with a blockbuster ride in Heat 15 to pass both
Brady Kurtz and Dan Bewley to complete his maximum.

And his combination with Justin Sedgmen, who scored a paid maximum against the Aces, produced 5-1s in all three of the races in which they rode as a pairing.

Said Fricke: “It was a good night, and it was nice to score 15 points for the team.

“Everyone chipped in and had a really good meeting, and it’s a really impressive meeting for the whole team against a very tough side in Belle Vue, so it’s definitely a nice one.

“I’ve been feeling a little bit better around here lately. I’m still learning and getting better and better, but I’m starting to find my feet and I feel good on the track.

“Hopefully we can keep that up and take some of that form into the next couple of meetings that we’ve got on the road.”

The Lions visit King’s Lynn on Monday as they face former World Champion Artem Laguta for the first time, and they have another attractive clash at Sheffield next Thursday (June 22).
